The Maccabi Skijar board believes that everyone should feel at home on Skijar. If someone wants to keep kosher, this should be possible. Therefore Skijar only offers food that is Glatt Kosher. Moreover, we'll reserve one chalet especially for people that wish to keep kosher. We'll call this the "kosher chalet".
Signing up for a kosher chalet means:
- The kitchen will be koshered and cooking utensils will be new or koshered. New pots, disposable cutlery and crockery will be provided for. Cutlery and crockery that belongs to the chalet won't be used.
- Food should be prepared by the participants themselves and will go according to halacha so meat and milk will be kept completely separate in the kitchen as well as at the table (so also cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery). For this reason also the dishes will be done separately. Since there will be only one sink no cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery will be put in the sink.
- The food, participants bring into the kosher chalet, will only be food that is listed on the approved Dutch or French kashrut list, that has an American OU sign on it or has an Israeli hechsher.
- Food that will be provided by Skijar (like on openingnight and shabbat) will be prepared only with ingredients listed on the approved Dutch or French kashruth list.
